Steve Jobs: “I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know.”

Apple co-founder, Steve Jobs released a resignation letter on late Wednesday and named Timothy Cook as his successor. Although Steve Jobs left Apple, I think that involvement is likely to continue even after Mr. Cook takes the CEO post to the extent his health permits. His resignation should not affect Apple that much as the company has a solid pipeline of products (new versions of its Macs, iPhones, iPads and iPods) churning out every year.

Steve Jobs inspired an entire generation of entrepreneurs and creative people to think about things in terms of innovation and design. The iPod changed the consumer mindset about the MP3 player from an alternative way to listen to music to the best way, the iPhone made touch screen technology in a mobile phone a reality for the first time, and the iPad sparked a tablet market. The legacy he leaves behind will definitely shape the future of the industry.
